en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 4, Chinese communications equipment company ZTE and Kazakh mobile operator Beeline Kazakhstan completed a low-band Massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology test in Shymkent. According to the field test results published by both parties, after adopting the new low-band FDD Massive MIMO equipment, the busy-hour capacity of low-band cells reached 2 to 3 times that of traditional macro cells, and user download speeds doubled. The test was completed under existing spectrum and site resources, without adding additional spectrum or building new base station sites.

This round of testing used ZTE's self-developed new-generation low-band FDD Massive MIMO equipment, focusing on the capacity improvement needs of the low-band wide-coverage layer of mobile networks. The test team replaced existing traditional equipment with low-band FMM equipment, optimizing the structural dimensions and operating performance of the low-band large-scale antenna array through new antenna materials, equipment architecture, and signal processing algorithms, and verified the utilization efficiency of existing low-band spectrum resources.

The field test focused on comparing the network carrying capacity and user download performance of traditional macro base stations and the new low-band FMM equipment during busy hours. The test results show that the new equipment improved both cell capacity and download speeds without increasing spectrum resources or sites, and alleviated low-band network congestion in the Shymkent test area. ZTE lists this test as its first low-band FMM wide-coverage network capacity expansion practice in the CIS region.

Wei Wei, CEO of ZTE Kazakhstan, said that the test covered the complete technical process from product definition and core technology research and development to field deployment, and the two parties plan to promote the related solution in more high-traffic areas. The Chief Technology Officer of Beeline Kazakhstan said that the company will continue to carry out low-band FMM verification in other high-traffic areas and advance subsequent network deployment based on the test results.
