Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 18, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has entered into a significant agreement with Suzlon Group for the supply of 838MW of wind turbines in India. This deal, part of Suzlon’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, marks the company’s largest order for fiscal year 2026, reported Business Standard. It is also Suzlon’s second-largest order ever, following a 1,544MW order from NTPC Green Energy.

The turbines are scheduled for completion over the next few years.

The 838MW order consists of 266 S144 wind turbines from Suzlon, each with a capacity of 3.15MW. These turbines will be deployed across TPREL’s projects in various Indian states, with completion scheduled over the coming years. Specifically, the turbines will be distributed among Karnataka (302MW), Maharashtra (271MW), and Tamil Nadu (265MW). This project forms part of FDRE contracts awarded to SJVN and NTPC.

This collaboration enhances TPREL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy transition. The country is on track to achieve 500GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, and TPREL is playing a crucial role by expanding its wind-led clean energy projects. Currently, the company manages a wind energy portfolio exceeding 3.9GW, with over 1GW already in operation. The remaining capacity is being developed in states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

The agreement represents the third strategic partnership between TPREL and Suzlon, reinforcing Tata Power’s commitment to achieving 100% clean energy by 2045. This new deal further expands Tata Power’s renewable energy portfolio, which now totals 15.7GW.

Suzlon Group, a leading global renewable energy solutions provider, has installed over 21GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries. The company operates research and development centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, and has manufacturing facilities throughout India.

In addition to this wind energy project, Tata Power Renewable Energy also formed a partnership with Tata Motors in April to develop a 131MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project, underscoring its continued focus on expanding clean energy capacity in India.
