en.Wedoany.com Reported - Swiss food discount retailer Denner has successfully deployed the LFS warehouse management system and the LYDIA Voice voice-guided picking solution from Ehrhardt Partner Group (EPG) at its fresh food distribution center in Mägenwil. A notable feature of this project is that Denner largely carried out the implementation independently. Leveraging years of experience with LFS and LYDIA Voice, along with close support from EPG, the company was able to efficiently and seamlessly transfer proven processes from six existing sites—including Schmitten, Frauenfeld, Lyss, Dietlikon, and the adjacent warehouse in Mägenwil—to the new facility.
"Our long-standing and trusted partnership with EPG is an excellent example of sustainable knowledge transfer," said Micha Burkhardt, Head of Sales and Logistics for Business Applications at Denner. "In the initial collaborative projects, the EPG team invested heavily in training and supporting our key users, enabling us to build extensive expertise in operating LFS and LYDIA Voice. As a result, we were able to handle the commissioning, user training, and first-line support for the new fresh food facility largely on our own. Throughout the project, EPG primarily served as a sparring partner for solution design and quality assurance, helping to ensure a successful implementation."

The temperature-controlled warehouse in Mägenwil is already the sixth site where Denner operates EPG solutions. The facility supplies fresh products to approximately 250 stores while meeting strict refrigeration and hygiene requirements. Over 700 products are stored in roughly 10,000 square meters of warehouse space, with temperatures maintained between 2°C and 5°C. One of the primary goals of the new facility is to significantly shorten transport distances and further strengthen regional fresh food logistics, currently reducing transport mileage by thousands of kilometers annually.
The LFS system manages all warehouse processes, from receiving and order picking to shipping, while ensuring strict adherence to the first-in, first-out (FIFO) principle. Maintaining an uninterrupted cold chain is another key requirement. The operation relies on conventional material handling equipment, including order pickers, reach trucks, and counterbalance forklifts. For voice-guided picking, Denner uses LYDIA Voice on Zebra TC22 mobile devices paired with Bluetooth headsets. Employees currently use the system in German, French, and English.

A key advantage of the voice solution is that it requires no voice training. Employees can start working with LYDIA Voice immediately, regardless of language, dialect, or accent, providing a high degree of operational flexibility, especially when onboarding new staff or temporary workers.
The full go-live was successfully completed in less than two weeks. Collaboration between the two partners continues, with Denner currently building another new distribution center for ambient products in Aclens, scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
