Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 9, US-based independent power producer Treaty Oak Clean Energy has signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Meta Platforms for two utility-scale solar projects in Louisiana: the 185MW AC Beekman Solar in Morehouse Parish and the 200MW AC Hollis Creek Solar in Sabine Parish. The combined capacity of 385MW AC will contribute to local clean energy supply while supporting Meta’s sustainability goals through the acquisition of environmental attributes generated by the projects.

Both projects are set to begin commercial operations in Q3 2027.

Treaty Oak Clean Energy co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer Rohit Ogra said: “Our partnership with Meta marks a critical milestone for Treaty Oak and our commitment to support our customers and their growing clean energy needs in MISO’s Southern footprint, as well as our broader mission to deliver impactful, scalable clean energy solutions across the US. Together with Meta, we’re strengthening local energy resilience, supporting economic development, and creating long-term value for the communities in which we operate in Louisiana.”

Both projects are expected to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2027. The energy produced will feed into the local grid, enhancing energy reliability and supporting economic development in the surrounding areas. Meta Head of Global Energy Urvi Parekh commented: “Our partnership with Treaty Oak reflects Meta’s and Treaty Oak’s shared commitment to bringing new, additional clean energy to the local grid. When we announced our AI data centre in Richland Parish last year, we committed to working with our partners to bring new energy to the grid – and this agreement with Treaty Oak does just that, while also helping match our operations with clean energy and contributing to local energy resilience and economic growth across Louisiana.”

The two projects are projected to generate over $100 million in combined state and local tax revenue over their operational lifetimes. Construction is expected to create approximately 300 jobs at peak development, providing further economic benefits to the local communities.

This collaboration builds on Meta’s ongoing initiatives in the US clean energy sector. In August 2024, Meta partnered with Arevon Energy on an environmental purchase agreement for Arevon’s Heirloom Solar Project in Pike County, Indiana. The new Louisiana agreements with Treaty Oak expand Meta’s commitment to sourcing additional clean energy for its operations, particularly for AI data centers and other energy-intensive facilities.

Treaty Oak Clean Energy emphasized that these projects reflect the company’s broader strategy to deliver scalable, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions across the United States. By integrating renewable generation into the local grid, the projects aim to enhance regional energy resilience, support long-term sustainability targets, and contribute to economic development through job creation and tax revenue.

Through the partnership, both Treaty Oak and Meta aim to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale solar projects, demonstrating the benefits of collaboration between energy developers and corporate buyers in advancing clean energy adoption while meeting operational and environmental objectives.

The Beekman Solar and Hollis Creek Solar projects exemplify the growing role of large-scale solar in regional grids, supporting energy security, sustainability, and economic growth in Louisiana and the broader Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Southern region.
