en.Wedoany.com Reported - EDIA – Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-Estruturas do Alqueva (EDIA) has launched a tender for the Terges e Cobres dam project, located on a tributary of the Guadiana River, aiming to enhance the water supply resilience of the Alqueva system. The company has issued a public tender worth €990,000 for the preparation of the construction design and environmental impact study for this infrastructure, with the bid submission deadline extended to July 27.

The tender plans to hire engineering services to complete the construction design and environmental impact study, with the contract expected to have an execution period of 18 months. The selection of the winning proposal will be based on multi-criteria factors, where price accounts for 60% of the weight and technical quality accounts for 40%. EDIA also requires the winning bidder to provide a guarantee equivalent to 5% of the contract amount.

EDIA has disclosed the future dam plans to the public since June, when the company announced plans to advance two new projects to strengthen the region's water supply capacity. In addition to the Terges e Cobres dam, another project is planned for construction on the Carreiras stream in the municipality of Mértola.

EDIA stated that these projects are part of a strategy to strengthen water resource resilience in Baixo Alentejo, aiming to improve the region's water storage capacity and system security in the context of prolonged droughts.
