Wedoany.com Report-Dec.12, GE Vernova has secured a new contract with PPC Renewables to deliver fourteen 6MW-158m onshore wind turbines for a wind farm located in Vaslui county, eastern Romania. The order, recorded in the second quarter of 2025, will add 85 MW of capacity to GE Vernova's onshore wind installations across the country.

This latest agreement expands on previous cooperation between the two companies. It follows a September 2024 order for 23 turbines and a separate award announced last week for 42 units destined for Greenvolt Power's Gurbanesti project in Romania. Once operational, the Vaslui wind farm is projected to produce sufficient clean electricity to supply approximately 38,000 households annually.

The turbines selected are part of GE Vernova's proven 6 MW platform, featuring 158-metre rotors optimised for medium-to-low wind speed sites typical of many inland Romanian locations. The design combines high energy yield with efficient transport and installation characteristics suitable for the region's infrastructure.

Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for GE Vernova's onshore wind international business, stated: "We are pleased to deepen our collaboration with PPC Renewables in Romania, strengthening our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions."

PPC Renewables, the renewable energy arm of Greece-based Public Power Corporation, continues to expand its presence in southeast Europe through targeted onshore wind developments. The Vaslui project forms part of a broader pipeline that leverages Romania's favourable wind resources and supportive framework for renewable generation.

With these successive orders, GE Vernova reinforces its position as a key equipment supplier in Romania's growing onshore wind sector. The company now has multiple multi-megawatt contracts under way across different regions, contributing to the country's energy transition objectives and the wider deployment of cost-competitive renewable power in Central and Eastern Europe.

Construction timelines and exact commissioning dates for the Vaslui site have not yet been disclosed, but the project aligns with ongoing efforts to accelerate wind capacity additions in Romania, where installed onshore wind has expanded steadily in recent years. The new turbines will further support grid reliability while helping meet rising electricity demand with domestically generated clean energy.
