On December 22nd, the signing ceremony for the Phase I EPC project of Kuwait's Mubarak Al Kabeer Port was held on Bubiyan Island in the northeast of Kuwait's Jahra Governorate. The project will be constructed by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC). Approximately 200 officials and corporate representatives from Kuwait and China attended the signing ceremony.
Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Nawaf stated at the ceremony that the Mubarak Al Kabeer Port project fully embodies the profound friendship and depth of cooperation between Kuwait and China. He noted, "The bilateral relations are built on a long and solid historical foundation. The strategic partnership between Kuwait and China is continuously translating into concrete outcomes, which are being consolidated and further developed under the leadership of the two countries' heads of state."
Liu Xiang, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, stated that the signing of this project marks a milestone in the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kuwait. He said, "We look forward to both sides continuing to uphold the principles of sincere cooperation and mutual benefit, actively advancing the high-quality construction of the project, and contributing to Kuwait's economic diversification and the realization of its 'Vision 2035'."
Chen Zhong, Deputy General Manager of CCCC, introduced at the ceremony that this project is CCCC's first port project in the Middle East to partially adopt Chinese standards. He pledged, "CCCC will commit its superior resources to ensure the project becomes an 'exemplary project of China-Kuwait cooperation'."
After the signing ceremony, representatives from both sides exchanged views on topics including port design, construction, and regional functional planning. The Mubarak Al Kabeer Port project is a key initiative planned by Kuwait to promote economic diversification and establish a regional trade hub, holding landmark significance for the implementation of Kuwait's "Vision 2035".
