Wedoany.com Report-Dec.30, A forum focusing on the green transition for chemical and fertilizer production was recently held in Hanoi. The "Business Forum" magazine organized the event on Thursday, aiming to promote connections, exchanges, and the development of green solutions in this sector. While industrial chemicals and fertilizers play a crucial role in agricultural production, as resource-intensive products, they generate significant greenhouse gas emissions and cause prominent environmental pollution issues.
In his opening speech, Hoang Quang Phong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), emphasized that the green transition of the chemical and fertilizer industry is an urgent task requiring the collaborative efforts of the political system, businesses, and the public. He pointed out that green chemical and fertilizer production needs to utilize renewable materials, improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions to protect the environment, and apply modern technologies. Hoang Quang Phong believes this transition benefits national economic growth, addresses social issues, and mitigates environmental pollution.
However, the transition faces numerous challenges, such as raising awareness of new concepts, the lack of a legal framework, insufficient technological processes, high conversion costs, inconsistent standards, limited understanding of green production, and the proliferation of counterfeit and substandard products. Nevertheless, VCCI officials stated that the green transition is an inevitable trend, and businesses must address the challenges, seize opportunities for technological innovation, improve processes, and create environmentally friendly products.
Ha Van Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam Agricultural Enterprises Council, suggested that to effectively manage and expand green models, it is necessary to incentivize businesses to invest in organic fertilizer technology, establish support mechanisms for the transition, regulate the use of organic and biological fertilizers, strengthen market supervision, build connections between businesses, cooperatives, and farmers, and link fertilizers with clean agricultural products and traceable supply chains. He believes changing the current situation and raising public awareness are key. Farmers need technical training, and their mindset should shift from short-term productivity to long-term efficiency.
As a representative of a company implementing green initiatives, Phan Van Tam, Deputy General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, stated that the company's green transition combines clean production with intelligent usage, building an ecologically modern agricultural system that aligns with the interests of multiple stakeholders.
