Wedoany.com Report-Dec.30, Indian steelmaker Jindal Steel Limited (JSL) announced on December 29 that it plans to expand the structural steel production capacity of its Raigarh plant from 1.2 million tonnes per year to 2.4 million tonnes per year.

According to the project plan, the expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2028.

The company stated that this expansion will significantly increase the supply of heavy and super-heavy structural steel sections in India. As part of the expansion roadmap, JSL will build a new dedicated structural steel mill alongside advanced upstream and downstream technological upgrades. This will enable the manufacture of larger, heavier, and more complex parallel flange sections required for next-generation infrastructure and energy projects. The company currently produces parallel flange sections ranging from 100mm to 900mm, with section weights up to 333 kg per meter. With the ongoing capacity expansion, its production capabilities will extend to super-heavy sections with depths up to 1100mm and weights up to 1500 kg per meter.
