Recently, the CEO of the Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) announced that the core project of the Saudi Land Bridge—the 920-kilometer railway construction project connecting Riyadh and Jeddah—will proceed in phases through a new implementation mechanism and is expected to be completed before 2034. The SAR CEO stated that negotiations had been held with a Chinese civil engineering consortium regarding the Saudi Land Bridge project, but an agreement has not yet been reached as the Chinese side failed to meet Saudi Arabia's localization ratio requirements.

In addition, SAR also plans to advance the construction of the Riyadh-Doha high-speed railway, which will be the first high-speed railway connecting Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Spanning 785 kilometers and passing through Al-Hofuf and Dammam, it can reach a maximum operating speed of 300 kilometers per hour. The SAR CEO added that this railway will connect King Salman International Airport in Riyadh with Hamad International Airport in Doha, enhancing the air-rail integration between the two capitals and major cities along the route.
