Wedoany.com Report on Feb 9th, Kris Marszalek, the founder of Crypto.com, has acquired the AI.com domain for $70 million. This transaction was completed entirely in cryptocurrency, making it the most expensive domain name sale in history. This acquisition aims to coincide with the launch of a Super Bowl advertisement, marking a significant strategic move by Crypto.com into the field of artificial intelligence.

The market fervor surrounding artificial intelligence technology continues to rise, and its influence has now extended to the domain name trading market. Recently, prominent investor Marszalek announced that the AI.com website will be officially launched during the upcoming Super Bowl event. The platform is dedicated to providing users with a personal AI agent service that integrates message processing, application management, and stock trading assistance.
In a related interview, Marszalek stated, "From a long-term development perspective, artificial intelligence has the potential to become one of the most transformative technological waves of our era." The acquisition of the AI.com domain has now become one of the highest-priced domain name transactions on public record. Historical data shows that the previous global record for a domain name sale was held by CarInsurance.com at $49.7 million in 2010, followed by VacationRentals.com at $35 million in 2007, and Voice.com at $30 million in 2019. Other notable domains that have traded for high prices include PrivateJet.com, 360.com, and Sex.com.
Larry Fischer, the broker who facilitated the deal, commented, "Premium domain names like AI.com possess an irreplicable scarcity. Once such an investment opportunity hits the market, it might be difficult to encounter again." Although the cryptocurrency industry is historically known for significant market investments, this transaction still holds a prominent place in domain name trading history due to its substantial amount.
Marszalek previously owned the Crypto.com domain and invested $700 million to secure the naming rights for a sports stadium. Owning two definitive domains representing the fields of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency simultaneously demonstrates his forward-looking strategic planning. While it remains to be seen whether such high-priced domain investments will yield corresponding commercial returns, this transaction undoubtedly reaffirms the unique value and scarcity of premium domains as digital assets. It also reflects the strong market expectations for the future development of artificial intelligence.
