Wedoany.com Report on Feb 11th, Maritime technology and satellite communications provider Elcome has signed an authorized reseller agreement with Amazon LEO (formerly Project Kuiper) to provide satellite-based connectivity solutions to the global commercial maritime market.

Under the agreement, Elcome will offer Amazon LEO services to fleets operating across the world's oceans, covering merchant vessels, offshore service vessels, commercial fishing fleets, and the yachting industry. This partnership builds upon Elcome's existing connectivity network, which already serves over 5,000 vessels globally, and will add Amazon LEO Pro and LEO Ultra terminals to its portfolio. This provides maritime operators with a standalone Low Earth Orbit connectivity option, enhancing the diversity, availability, and resilience of networks at sea.

By integrating Amazon LEO into its maritime services, Elcome aims to improve application performance and meet the growing digital demands of modern fleets. The additional LEO pathway is expected to enable more reliable onboard operations and faster, more efficient data exchange between vessels and shore-based systems, thereby driving the adoption of advanced digital workflows.

Amazon LEO is developing a large-scale Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation designed to offer lower latency and higher capacity than traditional geostationary satellite systems. With plans to launch thousands of satellites, the network aims to support real-time applications, telemetry, remote operations, and hybrid connectivity architectures suitable for demanding maritime environments.

Commenting on the agreement, Jimmy Grewal, Managing Director of Elcome, said: "This agreement advances our mission to provide global, scalable, and future-proof connectivity services to the maritime industry. Amazon LEO's technology will help transform how vessels communicate, operate, and integrate with shore-based networks."

Trevor Vieweg, Head of Global Business at Amazon LEO, added: "Through this agreement with Amazon LEO, Elcome will deliver the connectivity modern maritime operations require. Customers on the high seas will be able to power critical technology using our antennas, designed to operate seamlessly in challenging maritime environments."

Maritime customers will also benefit from Elcome's global engineering network, round-the-clock support capabilities, and extensive experience in deploying satellite communication systems for fleets of all sizes worldwide.
