According to the latest data released by the Canada Energy Regulator (CER), in November 2025, Canada's natural gas production reached a historic high, surpassing 20 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) for the first time. This milestone growth marks a record high for Canadian natural gas production, sending a positive signal to the energy market.

Based on CER statistics, the national natural gas production in November was approximately 20.04 bcf/d. This figure highlights the strong momentum behind the record-high Canadian natural gas production, driven by long-term growth trends and new developments in the western region. The expansion of liquid-rich natural gas drilling activities in British Columbia, stable production performance in Alberta, steady demand for natural gas liquids (NGL), and improved export prospects due to accelerated liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects have collectively contributed to this growth.

The regulator further noted that natural gas production from the Montney formation holds high competitiveness in the North American market. This indicates that the record-high Canadian natural gas production is not only driven by domestic factors but is also closely linked to international market demand. As the global energy transition progresses, this record-high production may provide more opportunities for future exports and energy cooperation.
