Trailer rental company PNO has partnered with Begoma Spedition to equip a group of semitrailers with Dymaxa side skirts. PNO, a leading trailer rental service provider in Europe managing over 11,000 semitrailers, and Begoma, a well-known Swedish fleet operator, will operate these upgraded vehicles. This initiative aims to support Begoma's 2030 sustainability goals by improving fuel efficiency to reduce emissions.

The design of the Dymaxa side skirts focuses on enhancing the fuel economy of diesel trucks and extending the driving range of electric trucks. PNO anticipates that these side skirts will effectively reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, helping customers benefit from more energy-efficient semitrailers while minimizing their environmental footprint.

Jan Eriksen, Head of Fleet at PNO, stated: "By investing in smart equipment and optimizing our fleet, we are actively committed to reducing CO2 emissions or enhancing the range of electric trucks. Sustainability is not a one-time action but a continuous improvement process—every step, big or small, is our focus."

Henrik Malmberg, Managing Director of Begoma, noted: "Introducing trailer side skirts is a key part of our sustainability strategy and part of our commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030. By reducing air resistance, we not only cut fuel consumption but also improve environmental performance and operational efficiency."

This retrofit program is part of broader efforts in the road freight industry to enhance vehicle aerodynamics and lower operating costs. The side skirts continuously save fuel during long-haul transport by minimizing drag under the trailer, especially on highways where air resistance is greatest.

Almaz Ayupov, CEO of Dymaxa, added: "We are seeing significant growth in demand for side skirts. Many European fleets recognize the efficiency gains they offer, while this solution is easy to implement, requires no additional training or maintenance, and carries low risk. The North American market has used trailer side skirts for over a decade, with an adoption rate of 80%. There are indications that the European market is following this practice to reduce costs and emissions."

As fleets seek to balance commercial needs with environmental targets, such incremental technologies are seen as a practical and cost-effective approach to achieving low-carbon transportation. The widespread adoption of these measures across the industry is expected to play a significant role in improving overall fleet efficiency in the coming years.
