Among them, Pudong Airport handled 2.38 million passengers, and Hongqiao Airport handled 1.279 million passengers. During the same period, Shanghai's airports handled a total of 22,000 inbound and outbound flights, with a daily average of 2,409 flights, a 3.1% increase year-on-year from the same period in last year's Spring Festival travel rush. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport handled 15,000 flights and 7,000 flights respectively.

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, the daily passenger throughput at Shanghai's airports set new historical records for three consecutive days. On February 20th (the 4th day of the first lunar month), February 21st (the 5th day), and February 22nd (the 6th day), the daily passenger volume at Shanghai's airports reached 425,000, 431,000, and 438,000 respectively. The inbound passenger peak occurred on February 23rd (the 7th day of the first lunar month), with a daily inbound passenger volume of 231,000, including 152,000 at Pudong Airport and 79,000 at Hongqiao Airport. The outbound passenger peak occurred on February 13th (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month), with 215,000 passengers. With the continuous relaxation and optimization of China's visa-free policies, the popularity of inbound/outbound tourism, northern ice and snow tourism, and southern winter escape tourism has been increasing, providing strong support for the growth of passenger traffic at Shanghai's airports.
Looking at the overall Spring Festival travel rush situation, from the start on February 2nd to February 23rd, Shanghai's airports have cumulatively handled over 10 million inbound and outbound passengers, showing a steady growth trend in the air transport market. Shanghai Airport Group estimates that during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush this year, the total number of flights at Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao airports will reach 96,000, with passenger throughput reaching 15.53 million, a daily average of 388,000 passengers, representing a 3.6% increase compared to the same period in last year's Spring Festival travel rush. To cope with the large passenger flow, Shanghai's two airports have continued to enhance the level of self-service throughout the entire travel process, strengthened coordination and linkage with transportation methods such as subways and buses, and improved the airports' passenger evacuation capacity during peak periods.
