YJLHV cable is a new type of power cable that uses aluminum alloy as the conductor material. It is widely used in civil, commercial, and industrial power distribution systems, offering advantages such as low cost, light weight, and corrosion resistance, while significantly reducing construction costs without compromising electrical performance.
I. Model Designation and Basic Structure
YJLHV stands for "Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Polyvinyl Chloride Sheathed Aluminum Alloy Power Cable":
YJ: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, with a high heat resistance rating of up to 90°C, providing excellent electrical performance and aging resistance;
L: Indicates the conductor material is aluminum alloy (typically 8000 series rare-earth high-iron aluminum alloy), featuring high creep resistance and high flexibility;
H: In some standards, refers to the "rare-earth high-iron" strengthening process, which improves connection stability;
V: The outer sheath is polyvinyl chloride (PVC), providing waterproof, moisture-proof, and chemical corrosion resistance properties.
The cable structure is similar to that of copper-core YJV cable, with the main difference being that the conductor material is replaced from copper with aluminum alloy, making it suitable as a substitute for traditional copper cables to reduce costs.
II. Core Performance Characteristics
Outstanding Economic Efficiency
Under the premise of achieving the same current-carrying capacity, the comprehensive cost of YJLHV cable is approximately 50% lower than that of copper-core cable, making it particularly suitable for large-scale wiring projects.
The density of aluminum alloy is only 1/3 that of copper, greatly reducing cable weight and lowering transportation and installation costs.
Excellent Electrical and Mechanical Performance
The conductor adopts a compacted stranding process, reducing voids, increasing fill factor, and enhancing bending performance;
Strong creep resistance ensures long-term stability at connection points, preventing loosening caused by thermal expansion and contraction;
The insulation layer uses 90°C cross-linked polyethylene, offering high-temperature resistance, flame retardancy, and aging resistance, ensuring a long service life.
Strong Environmental Adaptability
Suitable for installation indoors, in tunnels, conduits, cable trenches, and loose soil;
The outer sheath uses lead-free and cadmium-free PVC material, which is environmentally safe and suitable for use in humid environments or directly buried in concrete;
Wide operating temperature range: the maximum allowable long-term operating temperature is 90°C, and it can withstand low temperatures down to -40°C.
Safe and Reliable
The dense oxide layer formed on the surface provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for coastal, humid, and other mildly corrosive environments;
No toxic gases are released during combustion, meeting the GB/T19666 flame retardant standard, making it suitable for locations with high environmental protection requirements.
III. Application Scenarios and Voltage Ratings
YJLHV cable is suitable for power systems with voltage ratings from 600V to 35kV, commonly used in the following scenarios:
Civil buildings: distribution circuits for lighting, sockets, air conditioning, etc. in residential buildings, office buildings, and shopping malls;
Industrial plants: power supply for motors, machine tools, distribution cabinets, and other power equipment;
Municipal facilities: public power systems such as street lights, charging piles, and greening irrigation pumps;
Main trunk lines of large public buildings such as schools, sports venues, and entertainment facilities.
Note: For critical fire protection circuits with extremely high safety requirements (such as fire pumps and emergency lighting), it is recommended to prioritize mineral-insulated fire-resistant cables (such as BBTRZ, NG-A) rather than YJLHV.
IV. Differences from YJLHV22
YJLHV: Unarmored type, suitable for installation in conduits, cable trenches, and other methods with external protection; cannot withstand mechanical external forces;
YJLHV22: Adds a steel tape armor layer on the basis of YJLHV, providing stronger compression and impact resistance, suitable for direct burial installation, ground installation in industrial plants, and other complex environments.
