Wedoany.com Report on Mar 6th, Forest City Gear has recently purchased two ZEISS Contura coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to enhance its gear inspection capabilities. This investment aims to address increasing inspection demands and ensure strict tolerance control in precision gear manufacturing.

The newly added ZEISS Contura systems will be dedicated to gear inspection and dimensional verification, helping the company increase production throughput. The growing use of coordinate measuring machines on the shop floor had become a limiting factor, making this purchase timely.
Kika Young, President of Forest City Gear, stated: "We needed these additional machines to increase our throughput as quickly as possible. The ZEISS team understood that we had a customer who was significantly behind schedule due to CMM constraints. We asked ZEISS if they could expedite the process, and they made a tremendous effort to do so."
The accelerated timeline enabled Forest City Gear to respond rapidly to customer needs while maintaining inspection rigor and quality standards. This purchase makes the Contura machines the third and fourth units currently used by the company for inspection.
The ZEISS Contura platform offers stability, accuracy, and flexibility for high-precision gear inspection, suitable for a wide range of gear geometries and tolerance requirements. Adding two machines at once alleviates immediate capacity pressure and provides scalability for future demand growth.
Dylan Coutelle, Regional Sales Manager at ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions, noted: "Forest City Gear trusts ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions for fast turnaround times, quality, and innovation. When they presented an urgent need to expand their quality lab on an accelerated timeline, we collaborated with multiple ZEISS teams and the U.S. production center to deliver and install the ZEISS Contura CMMs within the critical deadline, helping their team uphold their commitment to quality, service, and speed."
This investment continues Forest City Gear's focus on customer outcomes, aiming for shorter lead times, consistent quality, and confidence that every part is thoroughly and accurately inspected.
