Wedoany.com Report on Mar 10th, In Australia, an insulated glass manufacturer has introduced Dimetix laser distance sensors to enhance the positioning accuracy of glass panels on the production conveyor. This sensor solution is designed to monitor and adjust the position of glass panels, enabling precise control based on the height of non-standard pallets.

These pallets are used for the horizontal transport and storage of glass panels. The Dimetix laser sensor communicates with common manufacturing control systems in various ways to ensure process efficiency. In the glass panel staging area, a servo-driven actuator system identifies and tracks the leading edge of the glass panel as it moves along the conveyor.
After the conveying device picks up the glass panel, as it cannot automatically compensate for the height of non-standard pallets, the Dimetix laser sensor measures the pallet height and adjusts the position to stop the glass panel. Once the glass panel is stopped, the machine tilts it onto the pallet, ensuring an exact position where it is less prone to sliding or misalignment, and then gently places it, tightly adjacent to other glass panels.
The customer benefits from the Dimetix laser sensor include easy installation thanks to the visible laser beam, simple configuration via free software, and the ability to operate within a wide temperature range of -40°C to +60°C. The sensor offers a measurement range of up to 100 meters on natural surfaces and up to 500 meters on reflective foil, with an accuracy of ±1 mm. Measurement results can be acquired by a PLC or PC, supporting maintenance-free operation.
