Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, Petros Panagiotidis, a shipowner based in Limassol, Cyprus, is preparing to establish a new U.S.-listed shipping company by spinning off the tanker business from Robin Energy. The board of directors has approved the plan, and the newly formed entity, named AI Okto, has applied for listing on the Nasdaq Capital Market. This move marks another step in Panagiotidis's strategy of developing specialized shipping platforms.

Under the arrangement, AI Okto will initially control one tanker along with related assets and cash. Existing Robin Energy shareholders will receive one share of AI Okto for every 6.5 shares they hold. Upon completion of the transaction, Panagiotidis will serve as Chairman and CEO of the new company. The aim is to build a publicly listed company focused on the tanker business while exploring AI-driven operational models and collaborating with technology and data partners to enhance vessel efficiency.

This is the latest in a series of corporate spin-offs by Panagiotidis. Last year, the tanker Wonder Mimosa was separated from Toro Corp and merged into Robin Energy. Toro Corp itself was earlier spun off from Castor Maritime, reflecting his ongoing strategy of creating publicly traded, specialized shipping platforms. Robin Energy currently operates a small fleet comprising two LPG carriers and one tanker. After the transaction, the tanker will be transferred to AI Okto, allowing Robin Energy to focus on its gas transportation business. This will also add another Nasdaq-listed shipping company under Panagiotidis's portfolio.
