Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, The American tool brand DeWalt has partnered with robotics company August Robotics to develop a robot capable of drilling downwards and featuring fleet management functions. It aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of concrete drilling, catering to the rapid development of data center construction. Currently, this robot is in the pilot phase and has collaborated with a major technology company to complete multiple stages of data center construction.

In mid-January 2026, this pilot project was officially announced at the World of Concrete conference held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This robotic drilling solution is claimed to be ten times faster than traditional methods, significantly shortening construction timelines. In data center construction, it autonomously drills thousands of holes for installing server rack stoppers and support structures, thereby optimizing cost-effectiveness.
Bill Beck, President of Stanley Black & Decker's Tools & Outdoor division, stated: "Hyperscale companies account for nearly 80% of total data center demand. They are investing in infrastructure to support AI computing, and it is projected that the entire industry's capital expenditure on data centers will reach $7 trillion by 2030. Our customers emphasize that construction speed is critical. This robotic drilling solution directly addresses this need by accelerating progress, saving costs, improving precision, and enhancing job site safety."
The manufacturer plans to commence commercial delivery of this robotic solution in the middle of the year. It will join DeWalt's data center ecosystem, which also includes Perform and Protect tools, the ICC anchoring system, and vibration-damping dust control technology. This collaborative project is expected to further drive innovation in the field of data center construction.
