en.Wedoany.com Reported - Lotte Construction announced on the 3rd that it has partnered with non-contact sensor specialist Guardian Works (㈜가디언웍스) to apply a "smart anti-over-rise system for aerial work platforms" at construction sites, aimed at preventing personnel collision and pinch injuries during work at height.

Currently, aerial work platforms are commonly equipped with mechanical stopping devices consisting of anti-over-rise bars and anti-pinch guardrails. The anti-over-rise bar functions to stop the platform when it rises excessively and approaches structures such as ceilings or floor slabs, but the device only triggers a stop when it physically contacts the structure and receives pressure, posing a significant safety risk.

The smart anti-over-rise system introduced this time consists of anti-over-rise sensors and anti-pinch sensors. The anti-over-rise sensors are installed at each corner of the safety guardrail, emitting ultrasonic waves vertically upward to detect obstacles, executing a first stop at 90 cm from an obstacle and a second stop at 35 cm; the anti-pinch sensors emit infrared rays horizontally, automatically halting the platform's ascent once a person or object is detected moving beyond the platform's range.

A Lotte Construction official stated that the system operates in a non-contact manner, reducing the likelihood of equipment malfunction or damage caused by collisions; additionally, the equipment features a self-diagnostic program, requiring workers to verify that the sensors are functioning properly before operating the aerial work platform, thereby enhancing safety. The official also stated that the company will further promote smart construction technologies, such as AI robots, to construction sites in the future.
