en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 25th, Sisk has been appointed as the main contractor for the £42 million redevelopment of Birmingham's Edgbaston Stadium, with the transformation project scheduled for completion ahead of the men's Ashes series in the summer of 2027. The contractor will transform the Raglan and Priory stands into a modern 3,200-seater stand with upgraded spectator facilities, while also constructing a four-star Radisson RED hotel featuring hospitality boxes and rooms overlooking the pitch. This project is part of the Edgbaston Masterplan, with Warwickshire County Cricket Club as the client.

According to a press release from Sisk, the stadium transformation is expected to increase Edgbaston's contribution to the local economy to £40 million annually, and over £70 million in Cricket World Cup years. The project is also forecast to create 134 permanent jobs, adding to the 1,000 full-time equivalent positions already supported by the stadium. Stuart Cain, Chief Executive of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, stated that Sisk's experience in sports and West Midlands projects made them the "ideal delivery partner" for the next phase of the masterplan.

Sisk announced the appointment as Build UK launched its 'Open Doors 2026' initiative at the stadium. This initiative is hosting events at around 240 construction sites across the UK this week to promote careers in the construction industry. This stadium redevelopment is a key component of the ongoing upgrade plan for Edgbaston Stadium, aiming to enhance its facilities and strengthen its appeal as a venue for international cricket matches. Upon completion, the stadium will feature improved spectator amenities and hotel accommodations, ensuring its readiness to host major events in the future.
