en.Wedoany.com Reported, Estonian shipping company AS Tallink Grupp has signed an agreement to lease the passenger ship Superfast IX. The company is seeking a replacement vessel to take over the operations of this ship on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route.

Paavo Nõgene, CEO of AS Tallink Grupp, stated: "Tallink is continuously optimizing its routes to enhance operational efficiency. This charter agreement provides the company with stable income rather than a reduction in business." He added: "Due to its larger passenger capacity, the Superfast IX is not an optimal match for the Paldiski-Kapellskär route. We have no intention of exiting this route; instead, we plan to find a vessel with a more suitable size and configuration."

The handover of the vessel is scheduled to take place on May 1st in Tallinn. Until then, the Superfast IX will continue to serve freight and car-carrying passengers between Estonia and Sweden, offering fast and comfortable travel options. The initial lease term is three years, renewable for an additional two years, and includes an option to purchase the passenger ship.

Before leaving Estonia, the Superfast IX will undergo routine maintenance from April 3rd to 18th at the Turku Repair Yard in Naantali, Finland.
