en.Wedoany.com Reported - Italy's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, through its Technical Support Observatory for Smart Roads and Connected and Automated Vehicles (Osservatorio tecnico di supporto per le Smart Road e per il veicolo connesso e a guida automatica), attended the "Smart Roads and Urban Mobility" conference held at 4:30 PM in the Cloister of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome. The conference was organized in collaboration with the National Sustainable Mobility Center (MOST). Under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), MOST brings together universities, research centers, enterprises, and institutions to develop innovative solutions for sustainable mobility, smart infrastructure, connected vehicles, and automated driving.

The Naples Ring Road recently received Italy's first smart road certification under Ministerial Decree No. 70/2018, serving as the starting point for conference discussions. Professors from the University of Naples Federico II, the University of Salerno, and Sapienza University of Rome delivered presentations on topics including smart mobility management, traffic data collection and sharing, and interoperability between vehicles and infrastructure through digital services to manage traffic and safety. These elements are considered key to defining and implementing smart roads.

Engineer Francesco Baldoni, President of the Technical Support Observatory for Smart Roads and Connected and Automated Vehicles, represented the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. In his speech, he emphasized that the Observatory serves as a national coordination body in digital mobility development, ensuring that innovation advances in a safe, interoperable, and public-interest-oriented manner. Baldoni noted that technological progress will provide citizens with more timely traffic information, real-time emergency management, and more efficient mobility services, thereby enhancing road safety. He stated that smart roads can quickly detect and communicate risk situations, promoting prevention and supporting the development of connected and automated mobility.

Additionally, President Baldoni discussed the conference topics on the television program "Futura," a show produced in collaboration between MOST and Urania TV's editorial team, focusing on in-depth exploration of mobility and infrastructure innovation themes.
