en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kia has commenced manufacturing the EV2 at its Žilina plant in Slovakia, marking the second fully electric model assembled by the company in Europe and signifying a further step in its electrification strategy for the region. The production of this B-segment SUV is based on the completed modernization plan for the production lines at the Žilina facility.

Soohang Chang, President and CEO of Kia Europe, stated: "The start of EV2 production continues to validate our technological capabilities and flexibility in Europe. When the EV4 started production last August, we demonstrated our ability to simultaneously produce fully electric models alongside hybrid and internal combustion power system vehicles. Now, with the addition of the EV2, our Slovak plant's output will better support Kia's electrification strategy in Europe." Tomáš Potoček, Spokesperson for Kia Slovakia, added: "During the preparations for the EV4 production launch, we already established processes for local electric vehicle manufacturing. With our skilled workforce and hundreds of robots supported by advanced manufacturing technology, the EV2 is rolling off the assembly line as we speak."

The EV2 electric vehicle offers two battery options: 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh, with estimated driving ranges of up to 317 km and 453 km respectively. The vehicle supports 400V DC fast charging and 11kW AC charging, and comes equipped with connected services such as route planning and bi-directional charging to enhance the user experience. Its design focuses on everyday practicality, serving as a primary family vehicle, offering generous legroom, adjustable rear seats, and a 403-liter cargo capacity. It also integrates a triple-screen display, OTA updates, and ADAS systems.

Kia Slovakia's Žilina plant, established in 2004, covers nearly 2 square kilometers, employs approximately 3,700 people, and operates over 600 advanced robots. Last year, the Žilina plant invested over €200 million in modernization and produced around 300,000 vehicles and 470,000 engines in 2025, which were exported to 73 countries. These production activities accounted for 9.3% of Kia's global vehicle output. The plant also plans to use power from a photovoltaic power plant to meet part of its electricity needs starting from the second quarter of 2026, and will celebrate its 20th anniversary of European manufacturing in December.
