en.Wedoany.com Reported - The modernization of the steam generator evaporation module protection system has recently been completed at Unit 4 (BN-800 reactor) of the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant.
The core equipment of this system — 42 new pulse safety devices — have all been replaced with high-reliability products independently developed and manufactured by Russia's Chekhov Power Engineering Machinery Plant.
The new pulse safety devices feature a vertical structure and operate on the principle of pulse steam drive. Compared to the old horizontal structure devices, they effectively enhance sealing reliability and response efficiency. The design life of this equipment is up to 45 years, fully meeting the strength standards for nuclear safety devices. The initial batch of devices has been validated through operation since their commissioning in 2019.
This renovation project was implemented in phases over several years, with the final upgrade completed during the planned major overhaul of Unit 4. The system upgrade will ensure the continuous and stable operation of the steam generators, which can produce 292 kilograms of steam per second at a pressure of 13.7 MPa, providing a more reliable guarantee for the power supply in the Sverdlovsk Oblast region.
