en.Wedoany.com Reported - US-based Aptiv and Comau announced a collaboration today to explore the joint development of next-generation intelligent automation solutions. The two parties have established a joint development framework through a Memorandum of Understanding, focusing on areas including advanced robotics, autonomous systems, and automated warehousing and logistics systems.

Jay Bellissimo, Aptiv Senior Vice President and President of Intelligent Systems, Software & Services, stated: "Robotics and industrial automation are rapidly evolving, with systems perceiving, thinking, and acting at the edge in real time. Through our collaboration with Comau, we aim to combine Aptiv's advanced perception, compute, and software solutions with Comau's expertise in robotics and large-scale industrial deployment, helping customers build smarter, safer automation while avoiding the cost and complexity that have historically hindered adoption."

Giovanni Volpes, Comau Chief Extended Europe Officer, stated: "The planned collaboration between Comau and Aptiv brings together complementary strengths. Together, we can deliver advanced robotic and digital solutions that help customers across many different sectors modernize their operations, accelerate AI adoption, and prepare for a future where autonomy is the foundation of industrial productivity."

This collaboration combines Aptiv's portfolio, including the Wind River edge platform and Aptiv PULSE sensors and high-performance interconnect solutions, with Comau's technology portfolio in robotics, automation, and large-scale deployment. The initial phase will explore several high-value use cases: advanced robotics, providing next-generation perception solutions and compute reference architectures for autonomous mobile robots, collaborative robots, and other autonomous platforms; AI-powered warehousing and logistics automation, enhancing Comau's Automha logistics software by leveraging Wind River cloud and edge technologies to support edge AI/ML; high-performance interconnects in industrial environments, designing ruggedized cables, miniature and modular connectors, and wiring harness assemblies for high-performance robotic application requirements; and radar and vision-based industrial safety, integrating deterministic computing and multi-zone monitoring.
