en.Wedoany.com Reported - Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) announced today the launch of a Europe-Red Sea-Middle East Express service. The company stated: "The service will call at strategic European ports, providing direct connections to King Abdullah Port, Jeddah, Aqaba, and linking to destination ports in the Gulf region through our intermodal services."

The port rotation is Gdansk, Klaipeda, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Valencia, Barcelona, Gioia Tauro, Abu Qir, King Abdullah Port, Jeddah, Aqaba. The maiden voyage is scheduled to depart from Antwerp, Belgium on May 10. The Red Sea calls will enable MSC customers to access the Upper and Lower Gulf regions via land bridges.

Concurrently, UAE-based AD Ports Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with French shipping line CMA CGM and its CMA Terminals Khalifa Port container terminal to develop intermodal solutions, expanding inland operations across the UAE and the wider region. The two parties plan to anchor cargo flows within AD Ports Group's integrated network of rail-connected inland container depots, dry ports, and freight stations.

AD Ports Group CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi stated: "This MoU marks a significant step in consolidating the UAE's inland intermodal logistics backbone under a unified, integrated platform. By bringing CMA CGM on board as the first global shipping partner within this network, we are expanding CMA Terminals Khalifa Port beyond its traditional terminal role."

CMA Terminals Khalifa Port, a joint venture between CMA CGM and AD Ports Group, commenced operations in December 2024. Jesper Stenbak, Regional Director of CMA CGM Group, said: "By connecting ocean services more directly with inland cargo flows, this partnership supports more efficient route planning and stronger supply chain resilience."
