en.Wedoany.com Reported - Qatar Airways Cargo launched Pharma Passive FlexTemp in May 2026, a new solution addressing dual-temperature requirements in pharmaceutical transportation. As an upgrade to the existing Pharma Passive and Pharma Critical Passive services, this solution helps temperature-sensitive medical shipments switch insulation conditions during transit in response to environmental changes. It is particularly capable of addressing the expiration of passive packaging validity or external temperature fluctuations, ensuring cargo safety.

"The goal of this solution is to provide pharmaceutical shippers with the flexibility to seamlessly handle dual-temperature shipments without compromising product integrity," said Miguel Rodriguez Moreno, Senior Vice President of Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo. He added that by connecting a global network with continuous investment in cold chain innovation, the company enables customers to "cover shipments even on longer routes where traditional passive packaging may have expired."

In terms of thermal protection, the system is built around high-performance vacuum insulation layers and advanced Phase Change Materials (PCMs), complemented by temperature-controlled shielding options to resist ambient heat and cold variations. It achieves long-lasting protection for 5 to 8 days, suitable for both sub-zero and above-zero environments.

Regarding full-process coverage, cargo can initially be transported at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, then automatically switch to 15 to 25 degrees Celsius upon expiration, without the need for active temperature control or re-icing with dry ice throughout the entire journey. Each container is GTK tested, meets ISTA 7D standards, and comes with dedicated components and reusable instructions.

In terms of service quality, Qatar Airways Cargo provides round-the-clock support through real-time global monitoring and an emergency response team. The solution is now available on 48 designated routes and can be booked directly through its Digital Lounge platform. The company plans to subsequently expand this service to more regions. Currently, Qatar Airways Cargo's capacity covers approximately 70 freighter destinations and over 170 belly-hold destinations worldwide.
