en.Wedoany.com Reported - On May 15, Nantong CIMC Pacific Offshore & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering) officially commenced construction of a 20,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport and bunkering vessel (Hull No.: S1157) for GSX ENERGY.

CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering stated that the 20,000 m³ LNG transport and bunkering vessel starting construction is a newly optimized and upgraded model launched by the company based on its mature vessel types. Compared with previous vessels of the same type, adjustments have been made in core parameters and system configurations. The new vessel type has an overall length of 159 meters, a molded breadth of 25 meters, and a design speed of 13 knots, placing greater emphasis on the balance between economy and energy efficiency.

According to reports, the new vessel type is equipped with one Wärtsilä dual-fuel main engine and one 1300kW shaft generator, which can meet the vessel's power demands during normal navigation, with the option to install a high-voltage shore power system later. Compared to traditional LNG transport and bunkering vessels, the new vessel type adopts a dual-fuel boiler with GCU functionality. Combined with ice-class requirements, it can process boil-off gas to generate steam for compartment heating while in port, maximizing the utilization of LNG fuel.

According to the Dragon Boat Order Book records, since October 2025, GSX ENERGY has ordered four 20,000 m³ LNG transport and bunkering vessels from CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering.

Currently, CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering holds a cumulative total of 10 orders for 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessels and a total of 3 orders for 18,900 m³ LNG bunkering vessels.
