en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 196-kilometer Ionia Odos Highway (A5) in Greece has fully deployed Valerann's Artificial Intelligence traffic management and incident response system, Lanternn. The section, located in western Greece, is operated by the highway concessionaire Nea Odos.

As part of Nea Odos' €1.1 billion Ionia Odos concession project, this deployment is not the first appearance of the Lanternn system. The system previously completed a pilot test on a 40-kilometer section of the A1 (A.Th.E.) highway, with results showing that Lanternn detected more incidents and identified them over 15 minutes earlier compared to previous methods.

The Valerann platform aggregates information from multiple sources, including roadside sensors, cameras, navigation apps, and weather data, creating a unified operational interface for road authorities and emergency responders.

Lanternn now covers the entire Ionia Odos route—part of the European E65 route—stretching from the Rio–Antirrio Bridge in the south to the Egnatia Odos interchange near Ioannina in the north, connecting the ports of Patras, Astakos, and Igoumenitsa.

Nea Odos CEO Rodianos Antonakopoulos stated that the company has been continuously investing in innovative technologies and AI since 2020, aiming to transform highway operations through smarter, safer, and more proactive infrastructure management, with road safety as the top priority. He noted that the collaboration with Valerann has created a "tailor-made solution that fully meets our operational needs and ambitions."

Valerann CEO Gabriel Jacobson described this as "a milestone moment for Greece." He added that every kilometer along this corridor now benefits from AI-driven analytics, helping operators detect incidents earlier, reduce operational disruptions, and take decisive action, suggesting this could serve as a future model for highway operations across Europe.
