en.Wedoany.com Reported - Frozen poultry exports from the Port of Savannah have grown by 8.5% over the past 12 months, according to the latest data from the Georgia Ports Authority, as the port continues to hold its position as the largest U.S. export hub for frozen poultry. In the 12 months ending February this year, the Port of Savannah handled 55,957 TEUs of frozen poultry, an increase of nearly 4,400 TEUs compared to the same period last year.

Griff Lynch, President and CEO of the Georgia Ports Authority, stated that customers have full confidence in the port's ability to efficiently handle time-sensitive, high-value cargo. In the full year of 2025, the port's frozen poultry exports exceeded 54,000 TEUs, equivalent to 757,570 metric tons, accounting for 37% of total U.S. frozen poultry exports.

To meet growing demand, the Port of Savannah is equipped with approximately 3,600 reefer container power outlets, including about 3,400 rack positions and over 200 chassis-mounted slots. Additionally, the Ports Authority invested $49.25 million in a new inspection facility at the Garden City Terminal, which began operations in February. The facility is twice the size of the original centralized inspection station, significantly enhancing cold-chain inspection capacity for imported goods. The building also supports inspections by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and will add an additional 4,000 square feet of cold-chain inspection space starting in June.

The Ports Authority also highlighted that the recently opened Gainesville Inland Port provides producers in North Georgia with direct rail connectivity to the Port of Savannah. Currently, the Port of Savannah offers shippers 40 ocean shipping services, supported by approximately 2.4 million square feet of surrounding cold-chain warehousing and infrastructure for cold-chain cargo flow.
