“AI Horse Training” Goes Desktop: Hermes Desktop Public Beta Released

Hermes Desktop shares configurations, API keys, sessions, skills, and memory modules with Hermes Agent. Sessions initiated on the desktop can be continued in the command-line interface or text user interface, with state synchronization maintained when switching back. Hermes Agent is known domestically as "Horse Training" and is positioned as a digital employee capable of continuous self-evolution and long-term memory as users interact with it.

Hermes Agent features task planning, tool invocation, result observation, and the ability to maintain state across sessions. The desktop window provides streaming responses and real-time tool activity information, while the right panel previews web pages, files, and tool output. Nous Research emphasizes that Hermes has a closed-loop learning function. After completing complex tasks, the agent writes reusable skills and continuously optimizes them through subsequent use. Persistent memory is maintained by the agent, with cross-session recall enhanced through FTS5 session search, large language model summarization, and Honcho user modeling mechanisms.

In terms of security, the desktop supports five types of sandbox backends: local, Docker, SSH, Singularity, and Modal, employing container hardening and namespace isolation measures. Built-in tools include web search, browser automation, visual recognition, image generation, text-to-speech, and multi-model inference, while also supporting access to external tools via the Model Context Protocol.
