Heidelberg Materials, which recently announced plans to ramp up automation adoption, stated that its goal is to achieve 30 autonomous vehicles by 2026 and over 100 by the end of 2028.
Neither party disclosed financial details.
Helena Hedblom, President and CEO of Epiroc, said the LinkOA system is already a proven mining automation technology, and through this project, the company looks forward to delivering the same productivity and safety benefits to the aggregates industry.
The LinkOA platform uses sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence (AI) to remotely control and monitor a variety of mining vehicles. The software won the Engineering Product of the Year award at the 2026 Digital Engineering Awards.
