Located approximately 78 miles northeast of Adelaide, the data center will have direct access to major transmission lines without requiring upgrades to the existing power grid. The campus is adjacent to wind farms that generate substantial clean energy, ensuring power supply stability.

Daniel Roberts, co-founder and co-CEO of IREN, stated that South Australia possesses the conditions necessary for building large-scale AI infrastructure, including abundant clean energy, network connectivity to the Asia-Pacific region, and a proactive state government. He believes the Bungadi campus can meet both global and regional AI demands, as well as the growing local demand for AI computing in South Australia. IREN plans to collaborate with local governments, communities, and industries to expand domestic AI infrastructure access, support research and innovation, and train the skills and jobs needed for the AI economy.

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas considers the data center a significant economic opportunity, bringing high-quality jobs, strengthening renewable energy infrastructure, and creating new opportunities for regional communities. He emphasized that South Australia's leadership in renewable energy, record investments in higher education, clear pro-employment and pro-business policies, and the appointment of the nation's first dedicated Artificial Intelligence minister give the state a unique advantage in seizing AI opportunities. IREN's Bungadi campus is seen as a major investment in the state, expected to create hundreds of construction jobs, support long-term skilled positions, and solidify South Australia's position as a technology and innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
