en.Wedoany.com Reported - U.S. telecom operator T-Mobile has established a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, with plans to hire nearly 1,000 professionals by 2027. This move underscores India's growing importance as a strategic hub for global enterprise technology, software development, cybersecurity, and digital innovation.

The GCC, inaugurated on Thursday, will operate from a 250,000-square-foot leased facility in Hyderabad. The center will serve as a key technology and innovation hub supporting the company's global operations.

T-Mobile's new facility will focus on advanced capabilities in software engineering, DevOps, product development, data analytics, cybersecurity, and other digital technology fields. This investment reflects the company's commitment to accelerating technological innovation while leveraging India's deep pool of engineering and technical talent.

Chandra Gupta, Vice President of Information Technology at T-Mobile's Technology Center, stated that Hyderabad offers a strong combination of skilled technical talent, innovation capabilities, and a mature business ecosystem that supports global technology operations.

Over the past decade, India's GCC industry has undergone significant transformation. Initially serving primarily as a destination for cost-effective outsourcing, it has evolved into a strategic innovation engine where multinational companies manage critical business functions, research, product development, and digital transformation initiatives. According to Reuters, a recent Nasscom-Zinnov report noted that nearly two-thirds of newly established GCCs in India choose Bengaluru and Hyderabad, solidifying the two cities' leading positions in attracting global technology investments.

This expansion comes as T-Mobile continues to deliver strong financial performance in its core U.S. market. The company reported total service revenue of $18.8 billion, an 11% increase year-over-year. Postpaid service revenue grew 15% to $15.6 billion, reflecting sustained customer growth and higher account value. During the period, T-Mobile added 217,000 net postpaid accounts, up 6% from the previous year, while average revenue per postpaid account (ARPA) rose 3.9% to $151.93. Net income was $2.5 billion, down 15% year-over-year, primarily due to costs associated with the UScellular merger, including $476 million in after-tax accelerated depreciation expenses.

The Hyderabad GCC is expected to play a significant role in supporting T-Mobile's future technology roadmap, AI-driven initiatives, software development projects, and digital transformation efforts.
