en.Wedoany.com Reported - Celebrating the 130th anniversary of the first truck, Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) has added four new models to its product line for the Southern African market in response to customer requests.

Established in South Africa over 60 years ago, DTSA includes Daimler Truck Financial Services South Africa and Sandown Motor, covering parts and services for Mercedes-Benz trucks, Mercedes-Benz buses, Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, as well as Freightliner and Western Star trucks. At a press conference titled "Mercedes-Benz Trucks: Building What Truly Matters" held at its headquarters in Centurion, Gauteng, on June 10, DTSA Group CEO and President Maretha Gerber stated that one of the company's five strategic pillars is customer centricity. Based on customer feedback, DTSA has launched four new vehicles: the Actros 2645LS/33 Base, Actros 2645LS/33 Line Haul, Actros 2652LS/33 Line Haul, and Actros 2652LS/33 Base.

DTSA Vice President of Sales and Marketing Olaf Peterson introduced that the new models feature improved chassis materials, reducing weight while enhancing load capacity and strength. In terms of durability, the LED headlights are expected to operate for 30,000 to 50,000 hours, helping to reduce maintenance costs and downtime compared to halogen headlights that require frequent replacement.

Depending on the model, the vehicles are equipped with OM460 or OM473 engines. Peterson noted that the OM473 engine features a turbo compound device that transfers exhaust energy directly to the crankshaft via a hydraulic clutch, thereby reducing fuel consumption. Additionally, these models are equipped with anti-theft fuel devices.

Gerber also mentioned that due to similarities in markets, customers, and products, DTSA has been integrated into the Latin America, Middle East, and Africa region. This merger is expected to generate synergies and create a stronger unified voice on key issues. DTSA operates from three locations in South Africa and manages nine other markets in Southern Africa.
