Wedoany.com Report-Mar 3, The Presidential Office announced three new energy-saving measures starting Monday to reduce operational costs.
Presidential Office.
The office said the measures aim to alleviate financial constraints caused by the 10% cut in water and electricity budgets and the 70% freeze on operational funds.
The office said it will reduce corridor lighting by a quarter during the day, while external nighttime lighting will be on a minimum brightness after sunset. Lights will be turned off at midnight.
Air conditioning and water usage will also be optimized, the office said. During winter, only fans will be used. In summer, the air conditioning will shut off one hour earlier to maintain indoor temperatures no lower than 28 C.
Water-saving measures include reducing the water flow of public faucets, installing water-saving devices, minimizing garden irrigation and car washes, and promoting water conservation awareness.
The office also plans to cut subscription and office supply expenses. Newspaper and magazine subscriptions will be significantly reduced, and most cable TV set-top boxes will be canceled except for essential government use.
Office supplies, including copy paper, printer toner, and photocopier use, will be cut first in senior offices before extending the reduction to the entire Presidential Office.
Last month, weekend open-house events were suspended.
Presidential Office spokesperson Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) said the Presidential Office has long been committed to conserving energy and administrative resources. The office will gradually adjust its measures based on operational needs and changes to legislative budget plans.
