en.Wedoany.com Reported - WinGD, in collaboration with CSSC Engine Co, has completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the first X72DF-A ammonia-fueled engine. This 72-bore engine will be installed on the first of 10 210,000 DWT dry bulk carriers owned by CMB.TECH, with its fuel supply system manufactured by Sunrui Marine Environmental Engineering Co.

The test was conducted at CSSC Engine Co, witnessed by representatives from Lloyd's Register, American Bureau of Shipping, and China Classification Society. The X-DF-A platform had previously received FIT and TAT approvals.

The X-DF-A engine employs high-pressure ammonia injection technology, with a target pilot fuel quantity of approximately 5% at full load. WinGD states that this model performs comparably to the same series of diesel-fueled X engines in terms of load handling, dynamic response, and fuel efficiency under both ammonia and diesel operating modes. Years of development and test data indicate that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by over 90% in ammonia mode compared to diesel mode.

WinGD has received early orders for 40 X-DF-A engines, covering various vessel types. Headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, WinGD's business encompasses two-stroke low-speed engines, emission reduction systems, fuel efficiency technologies, hybrid power, digital optimization, and full engine lifecycle support. CMB.TECH is the owner of these 10 bulk carrier orders.
