en.Wedoany.com Reported - EnBW has commissioned a solar park in Wangen im Allgäu, southern Germany.
The park has an installed capacity of 5.7 megawatts peak, and after five months of construction, it has been supplying electricity to the grid since mid-September.
According to EnBW, the solar park's annual electricity generation can meet the needs of approximately 2,350 households and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 4,700 tons.
The facility comprises around 9,600 solar modules and three substations.
A battery energy storage system with a capacity of 6.8 megawatt-hours has also been installed on site to store excess electricity and release it when needed.
The project was developed in cooperation with the city of Wangen im Allgäu and supported by the local citizen energy cooperative in the Wangen im Allgäu region.
Wolfgang Friedrich, a board member of the citizen energy cooperative in the Wangen im Allgäu region, stated that the solar park is a strong signal of what can be achieved together locally. As a citizen energy cooperative, it is important for them to enable local residents to both benefit from and actively shape the energy transition.
The project site is located next to the A96 highway, utilizing existing grid infrastructure with the grid connection point directly on site.
In the first quarter of 2026, a 6.8 megawatt-hour battery system was added at the site to enhance flexibility and grid integration.
