Wedoany.com Report-Mar 16, Ukraine and Turkey are intensifying cooperation in the agricultural sector. Among the main results is the expansion of the volume of purchases of Ukrainian agricultural products by Turkey, in particular corn and edible oil.

As reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval, the meeting took place within the framework of the visit of the Turkish delegation headed by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli.

According to Koval, during the meeting a Protocol on the expansion of cooperation in the agricultural sector was signed. In addition to corn and oil, the document provides for an increase in trade in poultry meat, dairy products, honey, livestock, vegetables, fruits and organic products.

Separately, the parties discussed the prospects for supplying Ukrainian soybeans to Turkey, which are interesting not only as a food product, but also as a component for the production of animal feed. Turkish entrepreneurs are considering the possibility of building feed and bioethanol plants in Ukraine.

Turkey is also interested in supplying tractors and other agricultural machinery to Ukraine. In this regard, it was agreed to hold a meeting of Ukrainian and Turkish machinery manufacturers to establish cooperation.

Another area of cooperation could be the reconstruction of irrigation systems in Ukraine. The Turkish State Water Resources Agency has significant experience in this area and can share its achievements with the Ukrainian Land Reclamation Development Agency.

The ministers agreed to convene a working group meeting quarterly in order to more quickly resolve cooperation issues and eliminate bureaucratic barriers to mutual trade.

We would like to add that Ukraine recently signed an agreement with China on the export of agricultural products. The documents regulate veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for the supply of Ukrainian wild-caught aquatic products and peas to China.
