en.Wedoany.com Reported - Rem Offshore's second Energy Subsea Construction Vessel (ESCV) has departed from Vietnam and is en route to Norway, where it will undergo final outfitting and delivery.
The Norwegian shipping company confirmed that the REM Ocean was delivered from the hull construction shipyard in Song Cam, Vietnam, on June 15. Towing operations began on June 17 from the Haiphong area, and the vessel will continue its journey to Europe after a stop in Singapore.
Upon arrival in Norway, REM Ocean will have all major systems and mission equipment installed at Myklebust Verft. The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2027, after which it will enter an eight-year contract with DeepOcean to provide subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services for Equinor.
Kristian Stavset, Project Manager at Rem Offshore, stated that the hull construction was completed to very high shipbuilding standards, and in his assessment, it is one of the best hulls ever delivered to the Sunnmøre region, laying a solid foundation for a smooth and efficient outfitting phase at Myklebust Verft.
REM Ocean will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on biomethanol and biodiesel, and will feature a battery energy storage system and energy regeneration systems. The vessel, measuring 111.7 meters in length, was developed in collaboration with DeepOcean, Rem Offshore, Skipsteknisk, and other key suppliers, and will be fitted with autonomous inspection drones (AID) to accelerate the digitalization of subsea asset inspection.
The vessel's configuration includes a Brunvoll thruster package, a 250-ton electric crane, two electric work-class remotely operated vehicles (WROVs) housed in hangars, 1,000 square meters of external deck area, and 350 square meters of internal hangar space, with accommodation for 120 people.
The first sister vessel, named REM Pioneer, is scheduled for delivery this year. Its first steel cutting took place on July 3, 2024, and the keel laying ceremony was held on October 24, 2024. Additionally, Rem Offshore announced that REM Power has been launched and is afloat at Vard Vung Tau.
