en.Wedoany.com Reported - ArcelorMittal and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating industrial automation across global operations by integrating cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and edge technologies into production environments. The two companies plan to migrate some of ArcelorMittal's operational technology and information technology onto AWS infrastructure, designed for security and scalability.
The partners will leverage AWS's industrial IoT, real-time sensor data, and machine learning services to deploy AI applications at ArcelorMittal's production sites. Target use cases include predictive maintenance, computer vision-based quality control, process optimization, and digital twins of assets and production lines, aiming to enhance safety, asset reliability, and energy efficiency across global plants. These plants cover ArcelorMittal's steelmaking bases in 14 countries.
AWS will also design and implement a comprehensive education program for ArcelorMittal to support the large-scale adoption of digital and AI technologies by its global workforce.
Additionally, Amazon has signed a multi-year framework agreement with ArcelorMittal for the supply of structural steel covering Europe and the UK. Under this agreement, ArcelorMittal will supply lower-carbon XCarb steel to Amazon's operational facilities and AWS data centers, supporting Amazon's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
