en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dominion Energy's Virginia division has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information on long-duration energy storage technologies that may be suitable for participation in pilot projects.
As defined by Virginia state legislation, long-duration energy storage refers to technologies capable of operating at full nameplate capacity for 10 hours or more.
At least three different technologies are expected to be selected for the pilot project, which is anticipated to have a capacity of at least 4,000 MWh. The initiative aims to evaluate long-duration energy storage technologies that can support grid reliability, renewable energy integration, and compliance with the Virginia Clean Economy Act.
Interested companies are required to submit responses to the RFI via email within a six-week period, starting Friday, June 26, with a deadline of August 7.
The RFI requests entities to provide clear and accurate information regarding their company and business model, the long-duration energy storage technology involved, the deployment history of that technology to date, the pathway and timeline for commercial deployment, scalability and capacity, site selection and infrastructure requirements, as well as supply chain and material procurement.
This RFI does not constitute a commitment to procurement, partnership, or investment.
The project will support local employment, increase spending in local communities, and generate new tax revenue for local governments.
