en.Wedoany.com Reported - The International Board of Directors of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) recently visited the manufacturing facility of Ag Growth International (AGI) during their annual meeting in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
GEAPS CEO John Caupert stated that this visit was part of a corporate outreach program launched by GEAPS about two years ago. The tour of AGI's 187,000-square-foot facility allowed the board to gain deeper insights into partners within the grain industry. Caupert noted that the program has received "overwhelmingly" positive feedback.
After the tour, Caupert remarked that GEAPS is holding an increasing number of interactive meetings with its members. He pointed out that GEAPS's mission is to advocate, connect, and serve the global grain industry and its members, and this collaboration between the board and AGI is a fulfillment of that mission. AGI reciprocated in the same manner to the board.
At its Sioux Falls facility, AGI produces AGI Hi Roller enclosed belt conveyors, AGI Tramco en masse conveyors, conveyor accessories, and AGI bucket elevators. These products are primarily used in grain elevators, farms, cooperatives, crushing plants, ethanol facilities, and fertilizer distribution operations to move grain and bulk materials during storage, processing, and loading.
Plant Manager Scott Burgland introduced that the facility employs programmers, laser operators, welders, painters/tilers, and assemblers. The manufacturing cycle for each conveyor typically ranges from four to six weeks, with approximately 300 conveyors shipped globally each year.
During the visit, board members toured laser equipment with automated material handling, programmable press brakes, welding stations, an automatic powder coating process, and two large bridge cranes used for loading trucks.
Caupert stated that AGI is a vital part of everything GEAPS does, spanning all areas of the grain and grain processing supply chain and value chain. This not only provides an opportunity for AGI to interact with GEAPS and its board but also serves as a learning opportunity for the GEAPS board from companies like AGI.
In addition to visiting AGI, the GEAPS board also planned to hear a presentation from POET Bioprocessing during their June 17 meeting agenda. GEAPS recently visited the Cargill export facility in Reserve, Louisiana; Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield, Iowa; and the National Corn Growers Association. Later this year, the association will also visit Mid-States Companies in Nevada, Iowa.
Caupert said that everything related to grain and grain processing is what defines GEAPS.
For AGI, this visit was seen as an opportunity to connect with various segments of the grain industry represented by the GEAPS International Board through tours, observations, and conversations related to the facility. JaMall Wilson, AGI's Director of Product Marketing, stated that from a product development perspective, it is always beneficial to bring the industry close to where products are manufactured, allowing visitors to see the challenges AGI faces in providing equipment that meets industry standards and customer needs.
Karen Carmichael, AGI's Senior Director of Commercial Sales, noted the importance of showcasing the manufacturing facility to visitors from diverse grain industry backgrounds, even though many of them are not directly involved in manufacturing. Carmichael said that AGI is focused on its customers and on how to deliver quality products to them, and that starts with these conversations.
