en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spain's Cervera Integrid Excellence Network (Integración de Recursos Energéticos y Gestión Inteligente de la Red, Integration of Energy Resources and Smart Grid Management) has been officially established. This is a national technology alliance aimed at improving power system efficiency using artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies. The alliance brings together five benchmark technology centers: CIRCE (as coordinator), Tecnalia, ITI, AICIA, and Itecam.

Funded by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), under the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the initiative aims to develop innovative solutions to help build a more efficient, resilient grid capable of meeting the challenges of the energy transition. Over the next three years, the alliance will work to create an ecosystem of excellence in energy management, with a focus on generating advanced knowledge and transferring it to the business sector.

Itecam's role focuses on developing solutions based on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and digital twins, and applying them to the energy and industrial sectors. Within the framework of this project, the center will work on AI models and quantum-classical hybrid algorithms to optimize grid operation, facilitate the integration of distributed energy resources, and strengthen industrial cybersecurity. The center considers its participation in Integrid a strategic step to consolidate its position in the field of digital energy technologies and strengthen its collaboration network with national technology institutions and companies.

The project aligns with the priorities of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 (PNIEC 2021-2030) and the European Green Deal (Pacto Verde Europeo) in key areas, including smart grid planning, renewable energy integration, energy storage, digitalization based on big data and artificial intelligence, and power system cybersecurity. Integrid also features a Technical Advisory Board composed of companies from the energy sector, including Redeia, Endesa, Repsol, EDP, Enagás, Solaria, and TSK, to ensure alignment between research and industrial needs. The project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the Cervera Technology Centers Program, with an implementation period from 2026 to 2028.
