en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 29 local time, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive officially signed a light rail vehicle supply contract with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive won the project with a bid of 2.84 billion Turkish Lira, and will supply 20 new light rail vehicles for the BursaRay light rail system.
According to the contract requirements, the vehicles procured this time will adhere to a 60% localization rate standard, with partial manufacturing planned at the Ankara Sincan factory in Turkey. The new vehicles are expected to be delivered and put into operation within 15 months.
The project is organized and implemented by the Bursa City Rail Transit Department, aiming to enhance the capacity of the BursaRay light rail system. The Bursa light rail line is approximately 40 kilometers long, with 40 stations, consisting of Line 1 and Line 2, and serves an average daily passenger flow of 320,000. The system currently operates 138 light rail vehicles, supplied by Siemens Mobility, Bombardier (now part of Alstom), and local Turkish enterprises.
The Bursa city authorities stated that, in addition to the procurement of 20 light rail vehicles in this project, with support from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, there is potential for an additional procurement of 20 light rail vehicles in the future, bringing the total new additions to 40, thereby further enhancing line capacity. At that time, the peak-hour headway of BursaRay is expected to be reduced from 2 minutes and 30 seconds to approximately 2 minutes.
From exporting products to establishing joint ventures for localized production, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive has been continuously deepening its presence in the Turkish market, successively winning multiple major rail transit projects such as the Izmir light rail, Ankara metro, and Istanbul Airport metro line.
