en.Wedoany.com Reported - Aena delivered this Thursday (June 25) the expansion and modernization works of three airports in Mato Grosso do Sul: Campo Grande, Corumbá, and Ponta Porã. As the operator of 17 airports in Brazil, the company's delivery significantly enhanced the operational capacity of these three terminals, with the introduction of new systems improving safety and passenger comfort to accommodate demand growth in the coming years.

At Campo Grande Airport, the terminal area expanded by 25%, increasing annual passenger capacity from 1.5 million to 2.6 million, a 73.33% rise. The project added a new floor, a new waiting lounge with seven gates, three boarding bridges (jet bridges), expanded security equipment, modernized the baggage system, and equipped the infrastructure to receive international flights. Campo Grande International Airport – Ueze Elias Zahran, the state's main air gateway, currently operates approximately 34 daily flights, primarily to Congonhas, Guarulhos, and Viracopos airports in São Paulo, as well as Brasília and Belo Horizonte. Starting in August, a direct route to Rio de Janeiro International Airport – Galeão will also be launched.

At Ponta Porã Airport, the passenger terminal area expanded from 770 square meters to 3,760 square meters, increasing annual operational capacity from 30,000 to 130,000 passengers. The project also increased check-in counters from 2 to 8, tripled the waiting lounge area from 127 square meters to 360 square meters, expanded the commercial area eightfold from 20 square meters to 161 square meters, increased commercial aircraft parking spots from 1 to 3, and built a new parking lot of 2,543 square meters with 96 spaces. At Corumbá Airport, annual capacity jumped from 42,000 to 120,000 passengers, with the terminal area expanding from 1,950 square meters to 2,400 square meters. The check-in hall area increased from 33 square meters to 102 square meters, with a total of 6 counters; the commercial area expanded sixfold from 20 square meters to 117 square meters; the waiting lounge area more than tripled from 105 square meters to 373 square meters; and the parking lot area tripled, with spaces increasing from 20 to 67.

The commissioning of the three airports this week is part of the modernization plan implemented by the operator after taking over the management of 11 airports in the SP/MS/MG/PA block. To execute the investment plan for these four states, the company arranged 5.7 billion reais in financing through bonds and Finem loans at the end of last year, with participants including the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and Banco Santander.
