en.Wedoany.com Reported - Australia's GCM Resources (ASX:GCM) has signed a 24-month Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with China's Shenzhen Wanwei Heat Conduction Technology Co., Ltd. (ALVC) to develop an integrated thermal management product that combines ALVC's vapor chamber technology with GCM's VHD heat sink platform.
Under the agreement, GCM's VHD heat sink technology has received third-party recognition. After evaluating its thermal performance characteristics, ALVC selected GCM's heat sink solution as an alternative to existing aluminum products.
The two companies will jointly design, prototype, test, and drive product commercialization. The product integrates ALVC's vapor chamber with GCM's VHD heat sink technology. If the product enters the commercialization phase, ALVC will lead sales and marketing, while GCM will serve as the exclusive supplier of VHD heat sinks. ALVC must purchase these heat sinks from GCM under agreed commercial terms, purchase orders, specifications, and capacity. During the 24-month term, the parties will engage in exclusive cooperation on protected product designs and substantially similar integrated combinations, subject to agreed exceptions.
GCM CEO and Managing Director Clinton Booth stated that the JDA establishes a clear technical and commercial pathway for collaboration with ALVC. He noted that the agreement preserves GCM's ownership of VHD technology and establishes GCM as the exclusive supplier of VHD heat sinks for the jointly developed product, with subsequent commercial terms and purchase orders to be negotiated separately.
ALVC CEO Riken Lee said the company "has reached the performance ceiling of aluminum heat sinks" and hopes to combine its vapor chamber design and manufacturing capabilities with GCM's VHD heat sink technology through the JDA.
The development plan is yet to be finalized and may cover concept and interface design, thermal simulation, prototype manufacturing, mechanical integration, testing, customer demonstrations, design revisions, and production readiness. Booth said the current focus is on technical execution, including finalizing the development plan, building prototypes, and validating the integrated design. Commercial launch and revenue remain contingent on development success and separate commercial terms, with no guarantee of commercialization.
Currently, the JDA does not include binding production volumes, minimum order quantities, or customer orders. GCM stated that it cannot quantify the potential revenue or financial impact of this collaboration. Any commercial launch remains subject to successful technical development, production readiness, execution of commercial terms, and customer demand.
ALVC is a Shenzhen-based thermal management solutions provider with manufacturing facilities in Dongguan. Founded in 1998, the company has over 6,500 square meters of production facilities, more than 120 employees, and over 50 production and testing machines and systems. Its products are used in electronics, medical equipment, communication infrastructure, energy storage, Automotive Industry" target="_blank">new energy vehicles, aerospace and defense, data centers, and high-performance computing. It has collaborated with approximately 600 customers, exporting products to markets including the United States, Europe, the Middle East, South Korea, and Japan.
GCM is developing VHD heat sink technology for advanced thermal management applications. The collaboration with ALVC aims to bring this platform to integrated product solutions, addressing growing thermal management demands in data centers, high-performance computing, electric vehicles, communication infrastructure, and industrial electronics markets.
