en.Wedoany.com Reported - ORLEN has launched a pilot for HVO100 fuel sales in Slovakia, with the first station located at an ORLEN service station in Bratislava. The pilot aims to assess market demand, customer needs, and network operational readiness, providing a basis for broader future rollout.
HVO100 is a renewable fuel produced through a hydrotreating process, using raw materials such as waste cooking oil, animal fats, and residues from the food processing industry. This fuel can be used in passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles, is compatible with most modern diesel engines, and requires no modifications to existing refueling infrastructure or vehicle retrofitting, serving as a low-emission alternative to conventional diesel.
Depending on the feedstock source and production pathway, HVO100 can achieve a lower greenhouse gas footprint over its entire lifecycle. Currently, this fuel is available at select ORLEN stations in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
ORLEN Group entered the Slovak market in 2019 and currently operates 102 service stations in the country. The group manages a retail network of over 3,500 stations across seven European countries, while also investing in non-fuel products and infrastructure upgrades, including photovoltaic installations, heat recovery systems, and electric vehicle charging facilities.
